Nongshim – Ramyun Black

The boy made dinner tonight.

Started with smoked pork belly and fish balls.

Topped with Nongshim’s new flavor –  Shin Ramyun Black.

Added some seaweed love.  I usually like raw egg in my ramen, but the pork was already really fatty so I went without this time.

As far as Nongshim flavors go, the kimchi bowl is still my favorite. I’m pretty good with spicy food, but Ramyun Black’s spiciness made it hard to actually enjoy the flavor. Too much heat can burn. Still, it’s always nice to have someone else cook for you.

Nongshim Ramyun Black

Grade: B-

Pros: Real onions, mushrooms, and chili peppers. Lots of garlic. No MSG. It comes with seolleongtang (ox bone) powder which is supposed to be really nutritious. I almost gave these noodles a C+ but the boy and all his friends really like this flavor, so maybe you will too.

Cons: Too spicy. The “premium” soup base was meh. Half a package is 280 calories!  Kind of expensive for ramen, it’s $7 for a four-pack.
